Name, age, title / job, where do you reside:

Christopher Sean Friel, 34,  VP-EYE W∆RS INC,  Huntington Beach

Describe your style in five words.

Try |not | to | look | dumb.

What are you into wearing these days?

Timeless basics.

Tell us about your most embarrassing fashion phase or outfit.

I have a white leather jacket that I am both to embarrassed to give away or wear as either action somehow confirms my ownership of said jacket.  I like to hope that if I don’t talk about, think of, or physically see the jacket it my closet that it will have somehow have never existed… I blame Lane Saunders for that one.  The rest, sadly, I claim full responsibility for.  I went through a pretty big vest phase which resulted in an extensive collection.  I basically acquired a vest for any occasion- weddings, holidays, summer vests, party vests;  you’d be surprised, there is a lot going on in the world of sleeveless garments.  In all honestly I have mixed feelings are about the vastness of my “collection”- sheer embarrassment & shame versus a strong sense of pride that I just may be the worlds foremost vest expert.

Name one person, living or dead, whose style inspires you.

I am all over the place- so I will name 5.  Michael Jackson,  Jean Paul Belmondo (that one’s for my Annabelle), my friend Andrew Schulenburg (he’s the Madonna to my Rosanna Arquette a’la Desperatly Seeking Susan),  John Connor from the Terminator & my dad, who was born & raised in New York yet dressed like a cowboy.

What do you love the most about your Generic Surplus Dom?

Understated style, simplicity & craftsmanship.  Stylish utilitarianism.

What does the shoe of your dreams look like?

Nike Air Mag aka “Marty McFly” from Back to the Future II.  And while we are on the subject of stuff we dream about- where are they at in terms of finishing up the hover board?  Seriously, did the scientific community just take like a 25 year lunch break on putting this thing to bed already?  Not to be critical, but I really think many of our great thinkers and the American populous at large has lost focus on what’s important- things that fucking hover.
